The 47th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry sustained a significant number of casualties during its long tenure of American Civil War and early Reconstruction Era service. The following rosters contain abridged lists of members of this regiment who were declared as wounded, sick, missing, or deceased during their respective periods of enrollment with the regiment, or who were known to have developed post-war health issues following their service with the regiment. Members of the regiment who were captured by Confederate troops and held captive as prisoners of war (POWs) are also listed here because they likely suffered mental and/or physical illnesses as a direct result of their captivity.
Note: New listings and profile links will be added as research progresses. If you don’t currently see the name of a soldier listed on one of these rosters, please continue to check back.
